Young people enjoy the happy hour in the bars at Rua do Ouvidor (Ouvidor street), in front of Nossa Senhora da Lapa dos Mercadores church. The street is considered the most famous of the old city (XVIII and XIX centuries), lined with retail shops, cafés and newspaper offices. It has long been a favourite promenade, and fills an important part in the social and political life of the city.
