Guanabara bay pollution, oil spill near Paqueta island - about 400 industries are responsible for the release of significant amounts of pollutants in the Guanabara Bay and the rivers of its basin. An estimate of the daily load of pollutants discharged into the bay: 400 tons of domestic sewage, 64 tons of organic industrial waste, 7 tons of oil and 300 pounds of heavy metals.
