Hang-glider over Tijuca National Park mountains in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Sao Sebastiao do Rio de Janeiro, commonly referred to simply as Rio, is the second largest city of Brazil, and the third largest metropolitan area and agglomeration in South America, 6th largest in the Americas, and 26th in the world. It is the most visited city in southern hemisphere and is known for its natural settings. Hang gliding is a popular activity on the nearby Pedra Bonita (Beautiful Rock). After a short flight, gliders land on the Praia do Pepino (Cucumber Beach) in São Conrado. Since 1961, the Tijuca National Park (Parque Nacional da Tijuca), the largest city-surrounded urban forest and the second largest urban forest in the world, has been a National Park.
